I was sad to hear yesterday that Jeanne Claude wife, partner and collaborator of Christo died on the 18th of November.
On their webiste you can read this :

Christo is deeply saddened by the passing of his wife, partner and collaborator and is committed to honor the promise they made to each other many years ago: The art of Christo and Jeanne-Claude will continue. Christo is dedicated to completing their current works in progress: Over The River, Project for the Arkansas River, State of Colorado, and The Mastaba, Project for the United Arab Emirates, as Jeanne-Claude would wish. Christo and Jeanne-Claude met in Paris, France in November, 1958, sharing the same date of birth and have worked together for 51 years creating temporary works of art.

I have always been a fervent admirer of their work. Of wrapping. Of transforming reality into a new reality. To perceive the whole environment with new eyes and a new consciousness.

If you want some good news anyway, Famapa had her little bubba !!!!

Marc Bordons

Marc Bordons Soler, born in Barcelona in 1981, currently living in Sitges.
He likes taking pictures of his surroundings, friends, people, places. Almost all the photos from his site are from my personal life, except for some artists / musicians. First camera in 2005, learned to use it on his own. Currently working as freelance.
Use all types of cameras, except large format because he does not have it.
He is addicted to my polaroid 600se, recently shot alone with her.

The first time I saw Marc's work it was the tennis player series. I love tennis related pictures, why ? I don't know. But it made me think that I shall work my drop shot.

Clemens Behr is a young and talentend german artist. He is famous for making impressive and surprising installations, trying to fill space while fighting against perspectives.
He was the first guest of Seize and I must say that the installation was beyond amazing.
A fantastic idea ! It's great when a gallery is innovating this way !!!!!

Martin Parr made this "Bags à Parr" series for Le Figaro Madame.
When I looked at it a few days ago without knowing who did this, I was beginning to think that the photographer was "heavily inspired by" Parr's work... Yeah.

My favourite fashion series of the year so far.
Maybe because it is not a "fashion" series ?

Touché par le feu

Touched by Fire
Touché par le feu by Martin d'Orgeval, Steidl catalog, 2008

On 1 February 2008 at 5 a.m., a fire ripped through Deyrolle, a historic entomology and taxidermy shop in the heart of Paris. Its collections of thousands of butterflies and rare insects, stuffed animals from all over the world and minerals, built up since it opened in 1831, went up in smoke, only surviving in the memories of generations of dreamers fascinated by their motionless beauty. Stuffed, mounted and classified, the specimens of a wide range of species conserved by this world-renowned institution were at best singed and at worst reduced to ashes. That which man and science had taken from the natural cycle of life and death and fixed forever was partially brought back to its original destiny: the fading and disappearance that awaits any creature. Time had been made to stand still, and nature had resumed its rights. These photographs effectively bring closure to a process of creation, conservation and destruction.
The index of 33.000 latin names (letter A) of the order Lepidoptera (butterflies) in this book has been taken from the website www.catalogueoflife.org, whose aim is to establish a complete record of every known species of living organism on Earth by the year 2011.
This taxonomic catalogue is a compilation of 52 databases from around the world, and brings together contributions from over 3.000 specialists. Over 250.000 butterfly species have so far been recorded.
The information presented is, in the following order: genues, species, name of person or group who first described the species, and date of first publication.

The fantastic book is available at Steidl.
Martin d'Orgeval is represented by the galerie Hussenot.

I was so sad when I heard about the fire at Deyrolle.
I've been there when I was really young. I do not remember that visit very well but my dad told me I was pretty scared by the bear and crazy in love with the butterflies. Stuffed animals have always intrigued me.
