Luke Stephenson was born on New Years day, 1983 in Darlington, North East England.

Luke's work has been featured in such publications as Dazed and Confused, Art Review, the New York Times Magazineand Kilimanjaro Magazine. He has exhibited work at Exit gallery in London, The Festival International de Mode et de Photographie in Hyères France, 2006 and the Jerwood Photography Awards 2005.

The key elements within Luke's work are centered around the perceptions we hold of others, and the objects with which we surround ourselves. Life in Britain and the British psyche are deeply ingrained within him, and provide a constant source of inspiration. Elements of quirky humor are used in his pictures to highlight a characteristic that may lead the viewer to a variety of conclusions; some intended, some that may be personal to the viewer alone.
"I want my pictures to provide the basis of a thought, but for the viewer to finish the story."

I discovered Luke's work through 20x200.

I am the proud owner of the second bird called " White and Grey Canary #1". The other pictures are from the " Budgies Series ". He explained the reasons of this series as followed :

" When I photographed these birds I approached them as if I were photographing a human being; granting them the same importance and attempting to highlight the individual personalities of these sociable birds. I find each bird has an air about them; be it proud, shy or bemused, there is always something which is added to by their colorful appearance-- giving the feeling that they are wearing their Sunday best.
